There are two pyrometallurgical smelting methods, one is blast furnace, another is electric furnace(submerged arc furnace),the process of RKEF smelting include drying, preheating, roasting, then produce nickel slag after smelting reduction. The method of blast furnace smelting require good performance of air permeability, low stock column, so the furnace can run smoothly. The blast furnace will reduce nickel oxide to metal nickel, the nickel content of ferronickel depends on raw material and reducing capacity during the reduction process, nickel pig iron smelting blast furnace use coke as reducing agent, limestone as catalyst.
